REGISTRATION FOR
IEA-IETA-EPRI 19th Annual Workshop on Greenhouse Gas Emission Trading
3-4 October 2019, IEA room 1, Paris France


The 2-day workshop organised by the International Energy Agency (IEA), International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) and Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) will take place on October 3 and 4 at the newly renovated offices of the IEA in Paris.

This invitation-only* workshop brings together over one hundred senior government officials, corporate executives from electric companies, energy-intensive industries, brokerage companies and the financial community, analysts and researchers from non-governmental organisations and academia to discuss the latest updates in and prospects for GHG emissions trading around the world.

The workshop combines presentations based on recent research with interactive discussions held under the Chatham House Rule.

The discussion topics this year include:
  Thursday October 3:
     - Regional updates from Latin America: Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Pacific Alliance and Carbon Pricing in Americas
     - North America – ETS and GHG policy developments
     - Regional updates from the Asia-Pacific: Japan, New Zealand, Thailand, South Korea
     - China ETS - 2019, a milestone year in China’s national ETS implementation
   A reception will follow at 18:00.
  Friday October 4:
     - EU ETS - new challenges and opportunities
     - Article 6 - An update on state of play in the negotiations on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement
     - Modelling case studies on international cooperation
     - How carbon markets can drive voluntary action under the Paris Agreement

OECD/IEA Climate Change Expert Group Forum (1-2 October 2019, IEA room 1 & 2, Paris France)
The IEA is organising, jointly with the OECD, the next Climate Change Expert Group (CCXG) Forum on 1-2 October at the IEA, preceding the 18th IEA-IETA-EPRI Annual Workshop. The CCXG Global Forum on the Environment and Climate Change (www.oecd.org/env/cc/ccxg.htm) gathers more than 200 country delegates representing over 50 delegations to promote dialogue on and enhance understanding of technical issues in the international climate change negotiations. The next CCXG Forum will have a particular focus on unresolved issues under the negotiations of Article 6.

The Sixth Annual EPRI-IEA Challenges in Electricity Decarbonisation Expert Workshop will focus on the growing number of mid-century climate targets announced by governments and electric utilities throughout the world, as well as the various near- and long-term strategies that may play a significant role in achieving those targets.
